After you use the Find Record feature (binoculars on the mail merge toolbar) in Word9, you can no longer view individual records or complete the merge. You may get an error message when you try to merge. This bug was fixed as part of the so-called “Word 97 Update: Mail Merge Security” (which should really be called Service Release 3a). In Word 2000, the bug was fixed in Service Release 1. See: Word versions and their latest updates for upgrade details. If you have Word 97, and don't want to install the “Word 97 Update: Mail Merge Security” patch, you can fix the problem by searching for something using Find Record that returns an empty result (doesn't find any records). You can then view and merge normally. |
